Wondering if anyone can help improve this picture for me please, have seen some extremely good repairs done on here, so thought may be worth asking on this one.

If anyone knows what service he may have been in as well would be great help.

You ought to post it again on the Armed Services WW1 site where there will be more military experts to help you identify the uniform. If you could scan it bigger it would probably show more detail.
