William Knowles died in Brynchoch Glamorgan 24 April 1886

Glamorgan record office hold copies of the burial registers for each of the main churches in the area around the time in question.
It may be worth contacting them to see if they can look up the approx date and see if he is listed.

I would suggest the following order
Dyffryn
Cadoxton
Skewen

of course he may not even have been buried in the locality.

but its just a suggestion

If you can narrow down where he is I can take a trip over to the right one and look for a grave.

I live mid way between Dyffryn and Cadoxton - less than 5 mins and approx 5 mins from Skewen.

Was in Dyffryn on the weekend, had a quick look around the churchyard - its not very big. Couldn't see your guy, but the oldest area had a number of stones where names could not be read, or areas where there are possibily stones missing.

The index of burials for Cadoxton produced by Glam FHS runs up to 1899 and there is no Knowles listed.

Maybe he was buried in the civil cemetery.
