hi all

looking for john birse 1891 & 1901 census
john b. 1844 kincardineshire d. 1928 arbroath
married margaret hutton b. 1847 brechin d. 1892 arbroath(m. 1870)
have searched ancestry but only found entries for
john(1851, 1861, 1871)
margaret(1851, 1861 , 1871 , 1881)
john was canvas weaver / salmon fisher
they had a daughter margaret b. 1869 brechin but she was married by
1891 and we have her on all censuses
we have death certs for john and margaret(both arbroath)

There are 3 matches for a John Birse aged between 40 and 50 in the Angus 1891 Census:
1 aged 42 (Edzell Census)
1 aged 43 (Arbirlot Census)
1 aged 46 (Arbirlot Census)

The 1901 Census of Edzell has a John Birse aged 52.

please pardon my ignorance
yes betty boo  that is the marriage
still cannot find census results 1891 & 1901 on ancestry
have got roped in to doing family tree for aunties & uncles
and sometimes find it hard to locate posts as i tend
to jump about a bit trying to learn new ways of locating people
and keeping my hand in what i have hopefully learned
its a bit like being in a sweetie shop  this site you know what your
going to buy(chocolate creams !) then suddenly there's a roll muster for the 42nd foot who might have fought with wellington in spain

Hi ev,

There is a John Birse between the ages of 46/47 in the 1891 census for Arbroath  with a wife Margaret on Scotlands People.  It could be him??  I will try and get someone to look it up on Ancestry census for 1891 for you.
