John Cairns married to Ann McGregor Linlithgow
« on: Sunday 23 September 07 02:56 BST (UK) »
Hello All
Looking for help or suggestions to find out more about ancestors. I believe both John and Ann died in 1860s in Linlithgow which was where children's baptisms are recorded - John, Isobel, Margaret, Adam, Peter and David. I would like to try to find their marriage records so thet their parents can be identified. Any help greatly appreciated.

on the 1851 census john cairns gives his birthplace as innerleithen

guess what...

john christened innerleithen peebles, 27/5/1781, son of john and alison wilson.

also adam christened 2/2/1784, will have a wee look and see if i can find him on the censuses.

Hello Joe
Thanks very much for your help. Not being familiar with the geography I am assuming the places you mention are in the general location. Would Borthwick be local to these too?
Kathy

Hello All
With help from Joe and Susan in another forum I have been able to move this branch back another generation. With a combination of the census information and deaths records the brick wall came tumbling down. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of extra motivation.
Thanks heaps!!
