Oops ......... apologies - Christian Neilson was born 1784 not 1884!

I believe that she married William Baillie on 17 Dec 1804 at Muiravonside.

Hi

On the 1841 they are in Cumbernauld - a whole heap of them. I'll transcribe them her in a short while  :)

Hi Gadget

Thank you very much.  This is exactly the right family. I have no idea what happened to all of these people, who are my cousins, but hopefully this will soon become clear.

Hi

It looks as if William amd Christian died 1841-1851 because they don't appear on the 1851 census.

Not sure about this one for son John (aged 26 on the 1841):

High Street, Dumbarton, Dunbartonshire

District 496  ED 5 Page 16

John, 35, spirit dealer, born Ayrshire
Catherine, 31, b. Argyle
Christina, 6, b. b. Dunbartonshire
Margaret P, b. Dunbartonshire
William, 4 months, b. Dunbartonshire
Francis, m, 65, spirit dealer's shopman, b. Invernessshire
Helen Nesson, servant, 21, Houseservant, b. Co. Down, Ireland

It's a strong possibility given his age,  the names of children - Christina and Christian are interchangeable - and William.

Hi Gadget

Not too sure about this one.

According to the IGI John was born in 1811 at Slamannan, Stirlingshire.

I wasn't either but it was the nearest that I could find. I think it will be a search through all the censuses for them all, which is a big job. Do you have access to any of the 19th century censuses?
