Census look up 1851 amd 1861 please
« on: Tuesday 25 September 07 15:19 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for Sarah Brush born c1837 Southwark or Pimlico area.

In 1841 I have Sarah living with her father Samuel bn c1811 Stanmore Middlesex and her mother Mary.

I cannot find her or her father Samuel in 1851 or 1861 but she is living with her father in Croydon in 1871.

Thanks Rosie

1841 wasn't Sarah's mother called Sarah too

father samuel 's occ letter sorter

siblings John, Emma, harriett and mary???

If this is your family, I can find sisters Emma and mary in 1851 (will post full details if you require them)-but not Sarah and Samuel

Thank you very much Suz for the information on Mary and Emma in 1851, a great help -perhaps they will eventually lead me to Sarah.

I have looked for harriet/Sarah/John/samuel in 51/61 even using a first name search only -and haven't found anything
There is a possible marriage for harriet in 1862
And a possiblity of John in 1871
But 51/61 they must be hiding away somewhere???

Thank you very much,

I have also tried all the tricks on the 1851/61 some time ago with no success so glad it's not just me, though was hoping fresh eyes would find it. Yes it is Harriet's marriage to John Burrows in 1862. I hadn't looked at Johns marriage so will follow that one up.

I think it is this Sarah Brush 'married' to Henry Knighton on the 1861 but as I cannot find a marriage for her and she vanishes by 1871 and there is no marriage I am just guessing. That is why I was trying to find Sarah dtr of Samuel at the same time as Sarah married to Henry then I could have eliminated her. I think I will have to try and locate a death for her after 1901 and see if it gives any clues.

Thanks again

Rosie
