I have found somewhere in the correct area which may be the place I am looking for :  Pitlyal loch near Long loch in Angus. I think this is the correct one as it is near both Kettins and Newtyle both of which places occur in other info. I think it is known as Round loch  as well.
The family member is described as "subtenant in Pithlyal child baptised at Newtyle" and the parents married in Kettins so it seems to make sense.
The ancestor was a joiner by trade so I presume there was some sort of settlement there, I know there is a big house there now so maybe that is where he worked and rented land and the name has changed. What do you think?
Thanks for the help Sarah.would this make sense to the TV soc?

Haven't found anymore about Pitlyal but parish of Lundie is correct.
The parents are James Shepherd and his spouse  Elizabeth Ramsay who married in Kettins in 1784 ( so I am presuming that she was from there) James is just described as being in parish of Lundie..
The children , Mungo,  1785  James,  1787  Margaret 1789  Elizabeth 1793  and William 1795 were all born in Pitlyal. By 1797 the family had moved to Errol Parish where George 1797 and Elspeth 1802  last  2 children were born.
Thank you for taking so much trouble. Is there anything I can do to help you?
Chris
