Well he appears to be wearing his knickers on the outside!!!

I have been sent this image (by email) from a distant twig in Auz. At present I don't know anything about the man except he was born in Auz in 1863.

Can anyone tell me why he might have been dressed in this way?

I have just been told that the photo was when Donald came second in the Stawell Gift in 1885.
