James Green of Godmanchester
« on: Monday 20 December 04 22:29 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I'm looking for a James Green who was born in Godmanchester. Year not known but I do know that he moved to Northumberland and married an Ann Pearson on the 28 February 1847.
Any help with James or other Greens in Godmanchester would be appreciated.
Regards
Margs

These are the all James Greens from the BVRI. They all have siblings if needed. There are 70 entries in all for the name Green in Godmanchester and by coincidence 70 marriages as well!
Please let me know just what entries you would like.

Hi Frances,
may I just say that it never fails to amaze me how people are so kind and helpful here, so many, many thanks for looking this up fo me.
I think that it may be the 1st James Green on your list born 11/8/1816 as his age on the 1951 Belford census is 32.
I'm fairly new to "family trees" but I must admit that I'm completely hooked.
Being ignorant about such things, what is the BVRI and the NBI. The only thing that I've managed to conquer at the Records Office is how to look up census reports.
Kind Regards
Margaret

Hi Margaret,

These are children of parents called John and Elizabeth in Godmanchester around the right time. Please be careful and check with the parish records, it is quite a gap between 1807 and 1816 for those days. These entries are from the British Vital Records Index. A set of 16 discs published by the LDS. They are not complete and cover births and marriages.

GREEN, Robert   Christening

The NBI is the National Burial Index the second edition is out now but it will be quite some time before all the transcriptions can be completed. At present there are 4 discs covering England and Wales. Hope this helps. Kind Regards, Frances  :)

I have a William Green marriage to Susannah Stokes 19/1/1790. Susannah b23/1/1763 Hartford, Hunts. The Stokes fit into my Bodger/Wright tree as Mary Stokes, her sister, married John Wright, 1/11/1791, but haven't details about William's family of Greens.
