I wish I had something concrete to tell you, but it is speculated that the name form Blowers originated in East Anglia. My Blowers ancestors say they are of norman saxon descent. But, if you know more let us know, thanks!!

My Blower ancestors lived in West Shropshire in the Minsterley/Westbury area if that is of any assistance.

I have Blowers in my Tree from Overton Flintshire from around 1850,but they are also believed originally to be from Shropshire.

Hi all :)

For what is worth, here is the amount of times these surnames are mentioned in the Shrop par regs approx 1520/1815ish

Litchfield diocese

Blower       77 times
Blowers     3      "

Hereford  diocese

Blower      342  times
Blowers    1         "

St Asaph diocese

Blower   94   times
Blowers   4     "

If you need a look up pre ab 1815, on  any of these entries, give me a name and an approx date to go on,

Best wishes,
Pete :) :)

P.S  look towards Westbury for the largest grouping of your surname :)
Edwards, mainly Cound, Frodesely, Acton Burnell. Pitchford. and surrounding villages, Shropshire, /  Rowe, Cound, / Littlehales, Berrington, Shropshire / Radford, Dublin, /   Maguire, Acton Burnell, /  Rudge, Frodesely, /

Wow, thanks for all the information. I will look into this weekend. I know off hand that I have been searching for the long-lost parents of Alexander Blowers born around 1688 or so. A British sailor that ended up in the American state of Vermont. Or if anyone has a missing Blowers in their family tree from around this time of 1650`s to 1750. Thanks everyone!!!

Dear Pete Edwards,
I know it has been nearly 12 months since I first requested info' on the Blower surname, but only just revisited this site (I am easily distracted!), & found your entry.
I have (with help) managed to trace my husbands family (Blowers) back to a James Blowers born 1815 in Nobold. He married an Elizabeth Oswald & had 7 children. I believe his brother was Edward, b.1820. At present I have his parents pencilled in as William Blowers & Mary Corfield but I can't remember where I found that info'. ???
Have you got a way of tracing this line back futher? Can you find James' birth amongst the parish registers?
Sorry I have taken so long to follow up this question  ;D
Kind Regards Sheila.
