Hi Pennie

I will ask Roses neice to mention the family.    Rose's niece gr3 grandfather Morgan Willmot was my gr4 grandfather.

But it did ring a bell with me  :)and we could very well distantly be related!!!

Going back many many years  Elizabeth Wastie was my Gr7 Grandmother she died in 1722.  She married a James Hathaway of Hailey and the name remained down the line to my Gr Gr Grandmother  Emma Hathaway who married a Henry Harper in 1865 , their daughter Mary Harper married Albert Harris in 1900 and their son Bert Harris was my Grandfather.  The Harris family came from Northleigh and I have traced them back to 1558.

Hi Julie ...

Many thanks for your last message.  I'm not sure whether your Elizabeth WASTIE has any obvious connection with my WASTIEs.  On the Oxfordshire Marriage Index she is recorded as Elizabeth WASTE (no "I") and coming from Hailey.  My WASTIEs seem to come from Handborough (post-1800) and Eynsham/Cumnor.  Do you have any further information on Elizabeth?

Again (to amuse myself!), I had a look at the 1881/91 and 1901 censuses to see if I could find any connection between the BERRYs of Lincolnshire and Oxfordshire (BERRYs born in Oxfordshire and living in Lincolnshire, and vice versa) and the same for WILLMOTTs (and variants) - but nothing found!

Hopefully, Olga's birth certificate may throw some light on the subject ...

Hi Pennie

Dissapointment!

I received Olga Berry's (Lincolnshire) and the child I found in Essex birth certificates today but sadly they are not a match or show any signs that they were not as they should be.

So here's hoping someone will have access to Hanborough's and St Aldates PR's for 1920 to see if they shed any light!

Julie

Hi Julie ...

Thanks for your last message - and how frustrating!

I assume that Olga's birth certificate shows her father as a BERRY and mother as a WILLMOTT (but not Harry and Alice)?

I'm not sure, but it's likely that the post-1860 Handborough PRs are still "current" and therefore still in use at the church.

Hi Pennie

Yes very fustrating,  the certificates showed Berry/Willmott but not Harry or Alice!

Do you know if I would be able to access 'current' PR's if I asked the church?
