1902 Shipping record UK to Aust. "Austral"
« on: Friday 05 October 07 22:41 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am trying to confirm  the Date and Port my G G Grandfather left the UK for Sydney  Australia in 1902.

I have established that Benjamin Thomas aged 49 arrived in Sydney on the "Austral" on 12 Sept 1902.

From "Find my Past" index it appears that he may be  listed as B Thomas and port of departure could be London.

Have you any ideas of how I can establish the date the "Austral" left the UK in June-Aug 1902 and the Port of departure.

Family stories tell me that Ben returned to the "Old Country" to visit his father Levi Thomas, and that his father was still living when Ben left the UK to return home. So this is a long way around the mulberry bush to try and establish the date of Levi's death.

Thanks

Cass,
Sydney ,Aussie
