1841/51 lookup please...

  Hi Guys
              looking for the following couple....

    Edith Bosten b @1819 Ottery St Mary Devon
    John Bosten details unknown .....sorry...

  Edith was born Edith Underwood in Ottery and baptised 10 Jan 1819 father Thomas mother Edith  she married in Battlesden Church in 1839.

  Bosten was given in register but could be spelt Boston or Bosting all found in Bedfordshire.
  Any help would be great...

Hello Tazzie, Off tagent I know (or lateral thinking) ,  but did she have a sister Elizabeth ? b 1810 Ottery St Mary who married Joseph Birch of Battlesden

I jumped into 1851 looking for any one living in Battlesden, Beds &  born in Devon

I'll now give it a more analytical approach.

.... or maybe that is Edith Underwood's sister !

   Hi John.....

  Yes Elizabeth born 26 Sept 1810 in Ottery.

  Thomas b 1814 is  grt grt grtgrt grandfather have him
 Robert b 1816 have him
 William have his 2 marriages (not like his brother as he did not marry sisters)
 Edith...missing at present
 Elizabeth ...hadn't got past her marriage yet so any info great..

   Have hit a wall with 3 7x great grandparents not being baptised unless there was an offer on  Mars that year

Tazzie,  from IGI; Joseph Birch married Elizabeth Underwood on 30 Apr 1830 at Battlesden,

1861 ... has John Bosten age 43, widower, born Milton Bryant living in Milton Bryant, with children John age 18, Thomas 15, Sarah 12, Ellen 10, Francis 7, George 5, Elizabeth 2 all born Milron Bryant (except John in Eversholt); plus with them is wife's sister Elizabeth Birch, age 40, married.

RG9/1003  Folio: 104  Page: 16

So with that set of names/years they should be found on 1851/1841

John Bowsten, head, age 32 born Westoning ; ag labr
Edith Bowsten, wife, age32, born Battleden ; Straw Plaiter
John Bowsten, age 7, born Eversholt
Thomas Bowsten, age 5, born Milton Bryant
Sarah  Bowsten, age 2, born Milton Bryant
Ellen Bowsten, age 9 months, born Milton Bryant

So is he the John Boston, born 31 Aug 1808, christened at Westoning on 22 Dec 1811, with parents John Boston & Sarah. (as per the IGI)

  Than you so much for the info. I needed a clue to where he was born . Had only started local around Woburn area so Westoning and those dates now seem highly likely.

  Still have some birthday money left so another couple of certs can be ordered now......

   Hi John.....

  Have found two John Boston's born Westoning in the 1881 census.

 One b 1808 Westoning married to Martha
 One b 1820 Westoning widowed living Milton Bryant(mine).

  So need to track him down .
