It was just if you wanted to send any images as you did to NZ.  But let me know.

Ernest Godbert came  from a public house familly and later ran the Red Lion in Prestwich.  married Elizabeth Ellen Wright in 1915 in Salford and had three children Donald, Jack and Marjorie.

They retired to Cleveleys.

Dave

Sorry i wont be sending any photos as they were copy written and would take me a long time to find them all, scan them and then email them to you.

What address do you have for Ernest when he married and the same for his wife Elizabeth?

Ernest is shown as a glass & china dealer at 78 lower Broughton road Salford 1927.

1911 directory still show John Godbert at the Clarance hotel, 125 Whit Lane , Pendleton. Salford.
So would presume the rest of the family were also living there then.

Looks like Ernest Godbert married into the Wright family business and maybe took over it and the family home. The 78 Lower broughton roadd address 1913 directory show Cyrus Joseph Wright as galss & china dealer.

Save your breath, it looks like i am quicker than you ;D

Ok, found Ernest on the 1918 AVL at the 125 Whit lane address
It gives him as Private 117765 MT/ ASC  ( Army service corps )
There is a medal card indext for him but this one shows service number as DM2/ 1177665 but is the same man.
There does not seem to be any service or pension record that survived for him.
You can if you have ancestry, download his medal card off that site. If not you can get a copy for £2 from this link. Click for Ernest Medal card index

I did also find a medal card and service pension  records for Frank (Ernest brother) Godbert.
Fred Godbert, public school battalion, 20th Royal Fusiliers.
Private 4877.
Shows his next of kin address as the 125 Whit lane and his father is named as is a Bertha at the same address.
There are some 13 pages in the file.
Again you can get a copy of the medal card indext from either ancestry or  this link Click here for Frank's medal card indext
Frank was invalided out of the army and also received the Silver war badge.

I would still like to knpw if he served in the war if there is a way of fimding out.  The site for finding service records has so many Frsd Wrights.

I will come back to you later if I may ondates and addresses. We have been househunting today.  Edgar Wright is my father.   He served in the merchant Navy.

Thank you so much for your help.

I would contact Besses band and see if you can purchase a larger print of that photo?
Have you Edgar's navy records? You can get them from the national archives.
Click for Merchant navy records
You will have to search through all the Fred Wright records on either Ancestry or at the national archives. Don't for get many records no longer exist and have been lost, also you may have to search with just the surname as not all are listed with both first & surname. Good luck.

Hi, my name is Liz morton but I was Godbert before I married! Ernest Godbert was my granddad and his son jack was my dad. Marjorie is the only one alive and she now lives in Australia. It would be great if you could get in touch.
