1861census look up - Green

Hi.

I am looking for Jane Green b. about 1818/21 Stanton (Stanton upon Hineheath).  In 1871 she is a widow living at St. Julian Shrewsbury.  I think her husband was Charles Green. I have found a marriage for a Jane Powell to Charles Green in 1856 so 1861 will be the only census they will appear together.

thats the only one that fits the bill, there is another one, but she has kids with her , and I see the one on the 1871 dont have any children

Hi Ricky.

This could be them but I am not sure. I do know that Jane was definitely born at Stanton and that her married name was Green. I am not sure that her husband was Charles yet, but the marriage I found on B.M.D. does seem right.  She is in Shrewsbury in 1871 living with her brother Joseph who was a Gardener.

on the 1861 there are 5 Janes born Stanton, none of them are Green's and only one comes into your age bracket


and Charles was a gardner on the 1861

Stanton upon Hine Heath is only 4 miles from Clive

Hi Ricky.

I think this is them in 1861, Clive is very close to Stanton upon Hine Heath, so maybe Clive was where Charles came from and they said that Jane was born there as well on the census.
In 1881 & 1891 she is living with her other brother Thomas Powell in Shrewsbury he was also a Gardener.
