I am absolutely devastated :'( :'(

My Aunt is going to be in absolute shock when I tell her that one of the photos in her album is not family.
I told one of my sisters, and she just cracked up laughing.  I have had this photo (along with many others ) printed into a book on our family history we did 10 years ago. 8)

I have so been in love with this couple ever since I saw the album.
Funny thing is I always thought he had a royal look about him. ::)

Can't wait for Lones to see this thread, I pointed out the pic to her the other day.  She was impressed.
Imagine how impressed she would be if I was of  Royal blood.  ;D ;D ;D

Thats it . . . . from now on its Lady Little Meg.  8) 8)

Oh dear!
So sorry to burst your bubble :(
I recognised them immediately, having read a great number of Royal biographies.

The photo was taken in Brussells by the Ghémar Brothers studio and was put out as engagement memorabilia presumably.

Great story though!

and yes China- I did put too many "i"s... well spotted! :P

Thanks ludovica,

well it is better to know who is and who isn't family in the photo collection, it at least accounts for one of the 'unknowns' in the album  ;D

cheers,
Margaret

got this pic off the net, their wedding day

Sadly the lovely wedding day photo is not of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It is the future King Edward VII (then Prince of Wales - son of Queen Victoria) and his wife Princess Alexandra, in 1863 .

sorry Jennifer,
I thought I made it clear that was who it was meant to be. . Edward and Alexandra.
As it was these people I was comparing to my photo.
And Ludovica kindly pointed it out that it was them.

Thanks China,
what a great photo.

My Aunt told me that when Prince Charles was in Australia, and she was only just married, Her husband and her had the opportunity to meet him. Her husband introduced my Aunt to Charles as "me missus" ;D

She never forgave him.  Charles was amused apparently.

Maybe my gr grandmother was introduced to Edward VII as  "me missus' too ;D ;D ;D

Hi China

A lovely photo - I hope they were served Earl Grey  ::)

Like you ludovica I have read many biographies, memoirs of the Royals  through the years - going back as far as George 111.

I can't resist them - even though I surely know enough by now.

How lovely Alexandra was - her own family links more than fascinating.........

Well I just got off the phone to my Aunt who has the old album.
Her reply was " of course it is, why didn't I pick up on that earlier"  she is a big fan of the Royals  ;D

And here I was thinking I would have a hard time convincing her ;)

Em, Alexandra was stunning wasn't she, and what she had to put up with  >:(

thankyou all for your wonderful help, have learnt a lot about my family photos  ::)
