Just for your information there are no entries for that name or variants in the Glamorgan 1841 / 51 & 61 Census returns.

If you would like all the Sandbach and variants from the 1881 census in the format of an excel document I can send this to you. It will help to determine surname distribution of the name in the UK in 1881.

Sandbach was in Birkenhead and the surrounding area in 1939-1976. I checked and found my adoptive grandmother in that time in Heswall. 

I'm still searching for more information.
