All I know is that he is the father of Kate- details already given. Kate was married in 1904 to my grandfather Charles Spratley.. I got Davids name from a copy of the marriage certificate. Have tried looking for them on the cencus ie the Smiths but so far no luck.

Hi both  :)

Any idea where Kate was born? Who were the marriage witnesses? Does the cert give David's occupation? :)

Hi, Kate was resident in Barkham at the time of the marriage. David was a labourer. One of the witnesses was Harry Smith, the other was another Smith but can't make out the first name. Not much to go on is it.

Needle & haystack problem :-\

I've traced all the Kate Smiths of the right age living in Berkshire in the 1901 census back and none has a father David  :-\

Can someone with full access check Annie Kate Smith, father David.
more for elimination rather than anything concrete...

 on piece 1112 in 1901
On piece 961 in 1891
on piece 1295 in 1881.
