i don't think you could have any more evidence of him being in the RWF, i would suggest he was transferred during the war, probably after 1916 into the kings liverpool and they issued his medals

Any idea why the RWF have no record of him,and the 6357 Liverpool Reg number belongs to Harry Warhurst? If he was in the RWF how do I find Out?

ok well looking a little further in to it, from the archives we have

Medal card of Price, Albert
Corps   Regiment No   Rank
Liverpool Regiment    6357    Warrant Officer Class 2
Labour Corps    39921    Warrant Officer Class 2
Royal Defence Corps    83485    Warrant Officer Class 2

and as you said the actual card says the same

we're probably missing something very basic here, we know he was in the RWF BEFORE the war, we have been looking for his RWF involvement in the war

i would suggest he served his time with the RWF but didn't re-join them (in 1914) and re-enlisted with the Kings

when you contacted the RWF did you specifically ask about WW1? it could well be they did exactly the same as us and just looked at the war records not his prior service in the regiment

ignore the other 6357, it is either a typo or the number was re-assigned when Albert transferred to the labour corp

Harrilbobs thanks for that.I`ll have to check with my brother about the RWF as he made the long journey upto the RWF museum to talk to someone there. If my grandfather re enlisted with the Liverpool Reg like it seems he did,I don`t understand why they wouldn`t have any record of him.

the service records of individual soldiers were not held by the regiments, they were held centrally and unfortunately were 70% destroyed in the WW2. the remaining ones are at Kew and it would need a personal visit to ascertain it a particular one survived

since the great war, the kings liverpool regiment has been amalgamated with  several other regiments and it would be impossible for them to have maintained records for all the soldiers

Just another question. If my grandfather transfered from the RWF to the Liverpool Reg could he have taken his service number with him? As I`ve  said I have a letter addressed to him as 6357 A Price RWF Hong Kong 1902, but the medal I have is A Price 6357 Liverpool Reg.

i would have thought that was a mistake, service numbers at that time were regimental
