hi frederickay here . i have a post further down .i am a kirkby Stephan Wharton . well my forebears were . have been there and if you ever get the chance grab it . have a look on the Wharton .Kirby Stephan ..=goggle . the Atkinson's married into the family and is a very common name in area . also try to get someone to find the historical society number for you . it is a small town ..lovely with macaws flying over the chimney pots(very unusual,in n.z. a macaw would be about 2000 dollars so to see a sth American bird flying around chilly north england sticks in ones mind ) but i have found that my Wharton's haven't really moved so you might be lucky enough to find the same . private message me if you like and i will go thru my paperwork . bye
Jan
p.s never mind the fog coming in at dusk and the crows cawing . all very atmospheric. i love the place.....

Just joined recently and saw this posting - I am descended from Mary Atkinson's grandmother Ann Robinson.  Ann was married twice - first to Robert Hodgson and then to Wharton Brunskill.  Interestingly, I have connections to both these family names although in this case, it is the Brunskill line that I can trace.  Have not established if Robert Hodgson is connected to my family line or not.
