Can you add birthplaces and occupations to that transcription?

Pauline

Hi Pauline,
Thanks for reading my post.
All the family except Mary Ann where born in Ireland family talk has it being CORK but not sure on that,
Mary Ann was born sunderland Durham.
1871 census has Daniel as a Labourer
1891 census has younger Daniel as a Iron Ship Caulker and no occupation for elder Daniel.
Hope this is what you asked for if you need any more please let me know

So in 1871 you've a 6-y-old b ireland and another 6-y-old b sunderland? seems unlikely.

I have tried looking outside the box with these two. i have found a mary ann registered birth a/m/j 1865 in sunderland (am waiting for cert as we speak) and am maybe thinking census done early april 1871 if Daniel was born  late april or may1864 then he would still be 6 and mary ann born march 1865 then she would be 6 also.. i only say this as my daughter has two of her kids born 11 months apart.
does that make any sense to you ? other option is ELLEN is Daniels second wife and but he would've had to marry her quite soon after his first wives death Blimey gets more and more of a mystery....

Does anyone know if the 1881 is fully transcripted as i am still trawling through the records i have looked in scotland and wales as well as the england census for this time but still not found this family... surely a whole family couldn't just disapear between 1871 and 1891.
I really could do with some hints and tips on where to go from here.
Thanks in advance for reading this .

It is not unknown for a family to evade the census, or for census pages to be missing or damaged.

It is worth remembering,  the census images are themselves transcriptions made my the enumerator from the schedule to the volume. It is quite possible that a family could be missed out entirely in the transcription, or they may have been transcribed under an entirely different name, I spent days searching for a family, only to discover they were all there under the name of the family in the previous household, the enumerator had forgotten to change the surname.
