joseph dobson and mary a ?

I just had another look at the 1891 and Mary E is 19.  Nellie (aka Sarah Ellen) is the one born in 1880 or so.

The Joseph in the big house was a groom, right?  My one was a miner (nothing to say he might not have changed jobs though)

Ok so back to a birth certificate for one of the children, no luck with Mary, what about Hannah 1874?  I can see she is born Royston, states that also on the 1891 when in service to the Birks family, have you tried for her's, does Royston come under Bradford??

Roystone comes under Barnsley. 

 They couldn't find Mary E or Sarah E and the Alice I have is the wrong one.   I suppose I could try hannah's birth cert - but having failed with 3 others I guess I'm rleuctant to spend the money.

Ok I can see another Joseph Dobson marriage 1871 jan-Mar with a Mary Ann Caisley on the same page   

I am just searching for Dobson marriage's bear with me

According to the Newcastle records that Joseph married Elizabeth Masterman

According to the BVRI the Joseph that married in Lancaster 18th Nov 1866 married

Mary Forrest

fathers; James Dobson & Thomas Forrest

is it possible that your GGrand father's wife's maiden name was Gorton ?
Joseph Dobson Mary Ann Gorton Oldham Sept 1872 8d 1048  its around the date you mentioned for their marriage

It could be Gorton - although Oldham seems a little out of the loop.  Worth considering though - thank you.

Sorry about the double thread too - I hadn't realised just how quick rootschatters would be in reponding, so I put a question on 2 different county boards.

If anyone has further inspiration please let me know - I'm off to check the possibles.  (It is just so frustrating not knowing where in the country these two could have got to!!!!)
