Sheila,

Can't see any cowkeepers called James Anderson of the right sort of age - possibly he died.  :(

Unfortunately since the ages in 1841 are rounded down (so Christian junior could be up to 24) it's not easy.  Christian could have married in the meantime so her name would be different.  John Anderson is too common and with no profession to go by, there are no hard facts to pin it on.  Wife Christian could also have died by then.  There are two Christian Andersons who might fit, but one was born in Midlothian and the other is listed as a proprietor with a married daughter Janet.

Do you have daughter Catherine's death certificate?  If after 1855, it should give her parents' names (both of them), including her mother's maiden name.

Hi,

I am having a slight problem with the daughter, Catherine’s marriage on LDS site, the extracted record says she and Daniel Fergusson married on 09 Sep 1834 at Logierait, Perth but there is also a submitted record for them marrying in St Cuthbert’s, Edinburgh on the same day. Do you have a copy of the MC? I know they sometimes registered in both husband and wife’s parishes. Being an OPR it would only give brides father’s name along with bride and groom.

On LDS site there are many births for them but all with double “s” in Fergusson.

If she emigrated to NZ in 1859 did she take all her children, too?

Parents Daniel Fergusson and Catherine Anderson family were: -

Anne b 25 Nov 1835 c 12 Dec 1835 Dowally, Perth extracted
Jessie b 19 Nov 1837 c 26 Nov 1837 Dowally, Perth submitted
Elizabeth Chalmers b 21 Jul 1839 c 04 Oct 1839 Dowally, Perth submitted
James b 23 Apr 1841 c Apr 1841 Dowally, Perth submitted
Mary b 09 Nov 1842 c 09 Nov 1842 Dowally, Perth submitted
Catherine b 28 Jul 1844 c 29 Aug 1844 Dowally, Perth submitted
Alexander b 20 Apr 1846 c 09 Sep 1846 Dowally, Perth submitted
Jane b 20 Apr 1848 Dowally, Perth submitted
Helen b 21 May 1850 c 14 Jul 1850 Dowally, Perth submitted
Margaret b 11 Sep 1853 Dowally, Perth submitted
Christine b 31 Jan 1852 Dowally, Perth submitted
Alice b 06 Jan 1859 Dunkeld Perthshire extracted

There are only 2 extracted records all the rest are submitted by members of LDS.

Thanks Tom for the reply, that Christina must be related as the family lived at 68 Potter Row in 1834, does it give any further information is she single or married and was there anyone alse living with her?

Thanks Sheila
