Trying to find the marriage of Peter tait b 1849, Berwickshire.

In 1881 he had 3 children
Margaret 1874 b Spittal
John        1876 b Spittal
William    1879 b Spittal
Wife was called Rachel b 1851 Scotland, Berwickshire.
Cannot seem to find a marriage.

I notice the family, after appearing on England census 1881 (ref 5129-81-22) moved to Eyemouth, Berwrckshire, Scotland, for censuses 1891 and 1901.

I notice you wrote that Peter was born in "Berwickshire" !

Berwickshire was a county in Scotland. C1881 records him as born in Spittal which was/is in England.  Also the two Scotland cenuses, 1891 and 1901 record him as born in England.

Censuses 1851, 61 and 1871 all record him as born Tweedmouth... in England.

You wrote that wife Rachel was born " Scotland, Berwickshire".

C1881 has her born "Tweedmouth" which was/is in England.  Similarly the 1891 and 1901 censuses have her as born in England.

Now, having turn things back into England, I will perversely suggest that you perhaps look for their marriage in Scotland, in the county of Berwickshire .

Hi Nicola and Michael

I have checked both England and Scotland for a marriage and there is nothing that I can see. If in Scotland it could be 'by declaration' and not registered.
