If you are looking for a Susanna(h) Robson, the most likely one showing on the IGI (controlled extractions) is one baptised 2 March 1712, Newburn. Her father is shown as Matthew Robson. She would thus be around 28 at marriage. Not that unusual in those days.

However, it is important to check parish record fiche/films to verify this information.

There are a couple of Joseph  Harrisons born around that time - Allendale and Newcastle. There may well be others.

Hi Gnu, many thanks for your reply, I have answered both Michael Dixon and Gen List Lass so you will see where I am with my puzzle, does the actual film of the parish records have any more info than just the LDS records any further advice would be most welcome.

Chris,

Are you clear with your search strategy ?.

I have seen (film of) the ACTUAL Newburn registers and have already passed to you  every word that the actual marriage register held. (for those 1740 marriages)

The amount of information recorded by parishes varied by era and by parish, sometimes at the whim of the vicar.

Records exist of Newburn parish records from as early as c1660.

So perhaps the information I got from the LDS family search site was correct (ish).
Would you know if the records for these parishes go further back or where would I likely find them.

Chris,
Have you got a Family History Centre nearby?
If so, you might be able to order the microfilms of the relevant records in order to verify what you have gleaned from the net.
To find you nearest FHC look at this link: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp
To see what films are available look at this link
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp and click the 'place search' button.

I too live some distance from Northumberland (sadly) but have been able to verify most of my information by using a Family History Centre. Very often I have found far more information than I had ever dared hope for!

As others have said, you should verify all info from the original sources, particularly if the entry on the IGI is 'patron submitted' - this is often a euphemism for 'guesswork' !

Best wishes

Jennifer

Hi JenB
Thank you for that, it would seem there is a centre about 10 miles from me.
Best Regards
