Hi Ticker  :)

In response to your message -

I'm usually on the computer in the evenings here, which would be around 8 to 11 am UK time.  Very rarely have time to get on it in the mornings.

I'll just carry on posting messages in various places when I want to say something!

 ;D ;D ;D

HI TICKER,

I POP IN MOST NIGHTS, SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 8pm AND 11pm.  ONE PROBLEM I FIND IS THAT WHEN THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE IN, IT'S PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO HELP SOMEONE WITH A GENUINE GENEALOGY PROBLEM.  AND SOME PEOPLE TEND TO LEAVE AFTER A WHILE, BECAUSE OF THIS.

COULD YOU PERHAPS SOMEHOW ENCOURAGE USE OF THE OTHER 'ROOMS', SO THAT SERIOUS FOLK COULD CHAT ONE-TO-ONE AND IN PEACE, ABOUT A PARTICULAR PROBLEM.

THANKS

 :) :) :)

Good point Mobo - I know what you mean.

Do you know you can send a message to one person in the chatroom without leaving the common room?  Just click on the users name in the top right of the screen and click on private message.  This opens up a small window where you can talk to someone privately.

Hope this helps.

Yes Ticker, I did know about this - even tried it a couple of times - trouble was it caused confusion as some folk didn't know their way round the chatroom - so I gave up on it.

Yes - that sounds familiar!  :-\

Your original suggestion sounds like the answer.

All the best
