Margaret Kerivin - Thomastown-HELP PLEASE!
« on: Sunday 28 October 07 18:18 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I would really appreciate "any" help with this.

My Great Granny MARGARET KERIVIN said she was born 1888 Thomastown Kilkenny.
Sometime before 1917 Margaret moved to Scotland where she worked as a housekeeper and married Alexander Kennedy. When this marriage was registered in 1917 Margarets Parents are recorded as Edward Kerivin (crofter, deceased) & Margaret Grant (deceased).
When Margaret arrived in Scotland she was either pregnant or came with a child.
It was not until my Great Granny died that my family found out that she had been married prior to her marriage to Alexander to a gent named (JOHN?) CULLEN. I assume that Mr Cullen is the father of the child Margaret came to Scotland with.

I have posted on numerous message boards, had letters published in local Irish papers, & my family have visited Ireland  searching for info. So far we have found nothing, not even a registration of her birth. The only info we have is that this is probably not an Irish name, and may be a corruption of KERWIN!!!!

So If anyone has any ideas on what I can do next,or ever come across this name, please could you let me know. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you
