Hi folks,

My grandfather James Nicholas Donovan (could be Donnavan) is described as "Head Beer Retailer" in the George Pub, 15 George Leigh St. Manchester on the 1881 census.  How can I get any more information about this, and family gossip says he also had another pub at some time.  Where would I find out if he was the owner or worker in these?
