HENRY and O'CONNELL
« on: Wednesday 31 October 07 00:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

Charles Bernard HENRY b. 1855 (this date varies considerably) - parents John HENRY and Jane O'CONNELL.

He met/married Ellen ??? in Australia and died 1885.

Would like to share information with anybody else who has these names in their tree.

With thanks,

Hello Crosswords,

What denomination were your Henry and O'Connell ancestors? Were they members of the Catholic faith, the Established Church (Anglicans or Church of Ireland), Methodists or possibly Presbyterians?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Hi Christopher,

Charles Bernard HENRY was a Catholic and his death cert states that he came from Co Cavan - but I don't have the Parish name so wouldn't know where to start looking???

My only chance, I think, is if someone recognises the HENRY/O'CONNELL combination and knows of them.

Many thanks for your interest,
