i don't know how my Garlick family line fit in with those already mentioned but they did come from Glossop,
my grandfather William Pemberton was married to Elizabethh Garlick in 1907 in Manchester, she was born in Glossop. her father was Joseph Garlick born in 1862 from Glossop. she appears to be  their only child. in 1890's they lived at rose green, Glossop.
Joseph's father is George Garlick born 1825 living in Glossop.
George's father was James Garlick who i beleive was born in 1799 and lived at Town End, Tideswell, Glossop around 1840's. That is as far back as i have gone.
More recent  daughter Nellie (Garlick) Pemberton then married into the Williams family in Manchester..
can anyone add anymore info to this.

the James Garlick i am referring to, lived at Town End, Tideswell, Glossop in 1841 along with his wife Isabella.
at this point there are no children living with them.

I think sustev's query relates to the fact that there is no such place as "Town End, Tideswell, Glossop". Tideswell is a different town, 17 miles from Glossop. Town End is (or was) a few houses in the Church Street area of what is now Old Glossop.

Thanks for the clarification. Presumably, then, one of the Garlick families that moved into the Glossop area during the industrial revolution as opposed to those who had lived in the Glossop/Dinting area for several hundred years previously.
