Owen Kelly
« on: Tuesday 28 December 04 21:16 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I am trying to find out where MY Grandfather Owen Kelly Came from. He was born in 1894 and he became a merchant seaman. He married my Grandmother Louisa Worswick in LIverpool in May 1917
His Father was called Thomas Patrick Kelly and he was a dock pilot. He was already deceased at the time of the wedding.
If I can find out where the family came from, I would like to know the names of all the family.
Thanks for looking
Jean

Hello Jean. Do you have any information which links your ancestor to Wales? Do you have the marriage certificate in question? If so do you have any further details (even place of address etc)

The name " Thomas Patrick Kelly" sounds of Irish descent to me but that is my personal opinion.

Have a happy new year  :)

Hello Jean

What was Louisa's fathers name & occupation on the marriage cert of 1917 ?
I agree with Jen, the name does sound a LITTLE bit Irish to me also

Hello, I thought that Owen was a Welsh Name that is why I have put my message in the Wales section. I also have it in the Irish and Isle of man sections.
In answer to your question about Louisa's Father, His name was John Worswick and he was a freight clerk. He was also deceassed in 1917
I have the number of the Marriage Certificate it is D 1340 ---29. The wedding was at Holy Trinity church, Wavertree, Liverpool on 12 May 1917.

Thanks Bryant, Yes I have the wedding certificate.
The witnesses are Leonard Bottley and Edith Worswick.
The residence of the Bride and Groom at the time was 112 Wellington Rd, Wavertree, Liverpool 15
I already have the details of Louisa's family,
William Worswick married Maria Summers
I have her details from 1811.
AS yet, no details on Owen.
Thanks for the information JEan

Not looking good for a starter is it!

Edith being Louisa's sister, and did she marry this Leonard Bottley?

Did the marriage cert say Owen was 23, so you therefore believe he was born in 1894 ? or you have other evidence ?

And the wife (your Gr Grandmother) of Thomas Patrick Kelly you have no knowledge of ?
__________
The National Archives do have just one Owen Kelly, under World War 2 Merchant Seaman, discharge number R140859, it might be worth £3-50 on his medal roll to find out what he got, which might lead you elsewhere?

Yes, it says that Owen was 23.
I do not know who My gt Auntie Edith married, I only met her once when I was a child
I searched for Thomas Patrick kelly in the site that you mentioned. I found one born in 1883 in lancashire
