Hello Cathy

The following may be of use although I do not have the baptismal record you are looking for.

Were your ancestors catholic or protestant as this will affect where you need to look?

Assuming they were catholic, there is no central index for Catholic parish records (pre 1864) so you really need to know where to look for your ancestors in order to be successful.

In 1853 the Griffith Valuation of Ireland recorded heads of household in Co Wexford. The valuation is on line, although incomplete. As you can see there is a John Swayne listed in the Civil Parish of Ballycarney, which is near Newtownbarry. He is in the townland of Scarrawalsh.

Parish records for the Civil Parish of Ballycarney are included in the Catholic parish of
Newtownbarry. Baptisms for the year 1839 seem to have survived, although I think that period is quite hard to read. See the following site for information on which records have survived.

Good luck and Happy Christmas

GDAY Sordibub:)
Thanks for that Info
As far as i know the SWAYNE family were Wesleyan, but not 100% sure
They married into my direct CLENDINNEN line in Co Wexford
Maybe if i try and get in Church of Ireland Registers for surrounding areas like ballycarney i might locate them
All The Best for 2008 too
Regards
Cathy:)
