Woburn PR`s
« on: Thursday 08 November 07 19:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi, l know this is a long shot but if anyone has access to the Woburn parish records would they very kindly look to see if there is a baptism record for a Joseph BURNIDGE c 1784- possibly the son of Joseph & Ann?

Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards
Robert

Hi Robert,

Virtually all of Beds pre 1812 has been extracted onto the IGI. Woburn certainly has.

With a name like Burnidge spelling variations are a certainty so a christian name search on the IGI can sometimes unearth spelling variations not picked up by Soundex.

If you check the IGI and just add Woburn's batch number (which you can find at  http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle) and "Joseph", perhaps limiting the search to 1785 +/- 10, you'll see Joseph Buckridge BURRIAGE son of Joseph and Ann born 25 Aug 1788. This ties in with his age 62 in 1851.

Unfortunately the Hugh Wallis site doesn't allow searches by Christian name so you need to get the batch number and then use the IGI direct on www.familysearch.org

There's also a daughter Elizabeth BURRIAGE  in 1790

Burials in Woburn include Joseph Burnage age 76 on 24 Apr 1838 and Ann Burnage age 90 on 17 Apr 1845

Disaster! Just shot a load of coffee onto the keyboard. Having tipped it upsofe dowm ti seens to be wroking OK

Hello Robert,

The Woburn PR has the marriage of Joseph Burnidge to Ann Fields on 1 Nov 1784,  plus baptisms of Ann Burnige on 5 Aug 1809, & of Charlotte Burnage on 9 Aug 1811, both children of Joseph & Ann. Most likely not the children of the above marriage.

Whoops, should have read David's reply & looked for Burriages

Regards John
