Hi Anna

the second part seems to be a little diffrent as we have a generation in between John 1552 and Humphrey 1598.

does it stat with JOHN HUGHES DRAKE?

as I have another one that is a Sir the Grandson of John Vanderstezen Drake through his son Henry 1859

Sir Eugen John Henry Vanderstegen Millington-Drake born 1889.

prehaps he is in the book

Regards

Russell

Yes, it was the John Hughes Drake line.  It would make sense to have another generation between John 1552 and Humphrey 1598, but I don't think Burke's had the additional generation unless I made a mistake in taking the notes (which I don't have with me now; they are at work).  Burke's, in my experience from my own family, is *not* infallible.

I think the Millington-Drake line featured in the same line in Burke's, but since I wan't looking specifically for that line I can't now be sure.

P.S. If I get a chance to get back to the library I will try to take a copy of the whole Drake/Vanderstegen entry, but I can't promise when that might be.

Hi Anna

That would be great, thank you.

It does make sence to have another generation between John and Humphrey 1598 but

If Humphrey Drake, who married Ellen Morice in 1598, is the son of John whose will was proved in 1552, why wasn't he mentioned in his father's will????

I have attached...

Hi again

Just had email from our Drake Group..

An we think that either Burke's is missing a generation or you might have missed
one when typing.

John whose Will was proved in 1552 died ten years before Humphrey was born in 1568 (we
got year of birth from age at year of death which was on a list of burials sent to us by Ross Hickman ages ago
So he can not be Humphrey's father unless John came back from the dead!  :D

Will be intreseting to see if the Millington-Drake line is the saem as John Hughes Drake..

We are looking at the other mistake from George 1641.

Regards

Russ

OK, I now have a photocopy of the full Drake of Inshriach entry, covering the Drakes, the Millington-Drakes (who are part of the same line) and the Vanderstegens.  John Hughes Drake's uncle Henry assumed the additional name of Millington by Deed Poll in 1900.

I hadn't missed anything out with the missing generation - but it sounds as though you have more information on that than Burke's did.  I agree with you that there must be a missing generation.

If you PM me with an e-mail address I will scan and send the entry to you.
