Hi David
So now we have two William Carvers arriving from nowhere and only 1 Beds born candidate - William baptised Potton 1825. The info you have given would fit very nicely for a first marriage if it wasn't for the death which appears to be the father not the son!  Just thought though the marriage in Sandy could be William junior - which would give a marriage and burial for both of them. I can't see a remarriage for Margaret.

Thanks for your continued efforts with my Carvers
Jan ;)

Hi Jan

I'm picking these off piecemeal

There were two Peters buried in Potton – 30 Oct 1638 who presumably was the son of Peter and Alice baptised on 26 Oct 1638;  and 19 Feb 1646 – was this the Peter baptised 29 Jan 1645?  (I’m never sure if the IGI adjusts for the Gregorian calendar, so these might only be three weeks apart), or an/the adult Peter . But the next  Peter burial in Beds wasn’t until 1753, so on the face of it you have three, possibly four, Peters with only two burials.

You really need the transcript to see what if anything was said about these two

Hi David
From my notes taken from the transcript I have the Peter buried 26 Oct 1638 as 'son of Peter', so the one baptised 26 Oct same year. I have no son of by the Peter buried 19 Feb 1646 so assume this to be the/an adult. The Peter baptised 29 Jan 1645 I take to be the one who marries Joan Russell in Sutton 6 Oct 1681 - haven't found another candidate for him; I have a burial in Dunton of Peter Calver (shepherd) on Jan 11 1727 who I take to be him as well.
This would despatch all the 1600's Peters if Peter who marries Joan Ancell is the same person who marries Alice Inway.

Found Peter Carvel now, and agree that the two earlier marriages must have been the same Peter, and he was the one buried in 1646

..... but I wouldn't be offended if anyone (sorry John, someone) else jumped in first!

This looks to be a pretty major project where one of our world renowned team efforts is required.

hello Jan & David,  if you need anything relooked at in the Potton PR let me know.

Thanks for the offer John - if you wouldn't mind looking for the following

Baptisms 1609 or later for
Agnes (Annis) d of Peter Carver  buried 10 May 1620
Elizabeth d of Peter Carver buried 19 Dec 1624

Also could you check if one of these was actually Joan rather than Jane as I have an extra Joan burial, none for a Jane
6th Feb 1620 Baptism of Jane d of Peter Carver
26th Jun 1614 Baptism of Jane d of Peter Carver

Have spotted a burial for Widow Carvill 22 Jul 1678 which I take to be the missing Alice Burial - no other Carver candidate I can see, and no remarriage in Beds showing.

Jan,

Sorry could not see the baptism you wanted of Agnes/Annis or Elizabeth Carver to tie in with the two burials.

Also the 2 baptism are of a Jane Carver,  neither are Joan.

Looking back on the thread to David's query

The burial on 30 October 1638 states Peter son of Peter (& Alice) Carver.

As to the dates
19 Feb 1646 is correct (it's in the set running May to Mar 1645)
29 Jan 1645 is correct (it's in the set running Apr to Feb 1644)

Thanks for checking those John.

Who Joan buried 1651 is will have to remain a mystery. And since there doesn't appear to be a Jane burial it would appear Peter and Joan named another child Jane whilst the first was still living in addition to having 2 living Williams - how confusing. Of course to ease confusion one of the Janes may have been known as Joan - who knows.
