Lamberton Toll plaque
« on: Saturday 10 November 07 18:44 GMT (UK) »
Hi again.

I'm trying to find out if there is indeed a plaque (according to wikipedia) which marks the place of Lamberton Toll house where many Irregular Marriages took place.  I was up on the A1 and at Lamberton yesterday looking for it - without any success - any body know anything about the plaque please.

Yours

Hello again g a r

Thank you for that link.  I presume that the Genealogy.com site is similar to this chat site and that someone has submitted the picture. I wonder though where the plaque is situated?

Hi g a r

Thanks once again for the other link.  At least I'm getting nearer.

When  went up I went straight into Lamberton and came out at the end which probably means I missed the lay-by.  I think it may be the large one on the left as you travel north - obviously - that does actually mark the border line.  I called into the layby on the other side as I came back around again heading south and for home.

Next time I'm heading to my sister in Edinburgh I'll stop off.
