I wonder if it's something to do with the digital rights association of the file you are trying to embed?

Have you tried embedding one of the stock windows sounds?

These can be found in: start, my computer, local disk, windows, media

That works!!  I tried it with the chimes.wav and it worked perfectly!

what if you transfer your music file to that folder, or better yet rename it and transfer it to that folder?

nope, just tried it with a very small file - no luck.  geez... this is a stumper

was it a .wav file or one of the other "supposedly" supported file types?

yes, it was a .wav file that I tried.

  And to add insult to injury, I just got one of those cutesy emails from a pal - you know the type - all hearts and flowers, with a beautiful melody playing in the background......

aargh....
