Warrior Queens (QE and QM)
« on: Sunday 11 November 07 09:52 GMT (UK) »
My uncle Philip McGurn was a Merchant Seaman and during the war served as a Bedroom Steward on both the Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mary during the war.

I have been able to find out about life on the Queen Mary from the WW2Troopship site but don't seem to be able to find out much about the trips the Queen Elizabeth did. Probably because the QM sailed to and from America whereas the QE seemed to travel in the South Atlantic most of the time. Freetown, Suez, South America and Sydney.

Does anyone know how I can fill in the missing years. I know Philip was signed on the QE 21 Jan 1941 possibly until April 1943 when he transferred to the QM for the next 18 months then back to the QE.

The gap I am trying to fill is the period 1941-1942.

Thanks
Jean
