Very kind of you to look that up Ev.  Christina is still living at Cookney in 1871 and 1881 aged 44 and 55 respectively but like you, I could find no death for Donald in Kincardineshire between 1861 and 1871.  I did find the death of a Donald McGregor at Inveravon, Banff in 1867 aged 49 which would fit or near enough, Donald being born sometime between 1815 and 1818.  However, I'm very doubtful it could be him.

Hi Ev.
Great work !  Matt has managed to work out how to find the details of Donald McGregor's military service so there is no need of a PM  ;D
This is how to do it (or at least how I did it).
1.  Go to www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/militaryhistory
2.  Select 'Army'in the Topics to research box and click Go.
3.  Choose 'Other ranks - when did he leave the army ? 1760-1913'.
4.  Choose 'Soldiers discharge papers, 1760-1913'.
5.  Click 'Search' (the magnifying glass at the top of the page).
6.  Enter the name of the soldier.

Donald's details were: 'Donald McGregor born Oldmacher, Aberdeen. Served in the 3rd Foot Guards.  Discharged aged 29'
To obtain the discharge paper/papers go to Documents online.  This will tell you how to order them.
We now know pretty well everything about Christina but what happened to Donald after 1861 ? If his Death Certificate could be found it should give the names of his parents.

Isles.

thanks ev, he must have died in scotland, seeing as though he got his discharge papers
its a mystery
not unless the death is registered for ronald mcgregor or donald mcgrigor or mistakes of the like, but im sure youve covered that ;D
if he didnt die in scotland we have a problem! lol
