Frederick FARR Bedfordshire Regiment
« on: Wednesday 14 November 07 16:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I posted a query about my granddad Frederick FARR a while ago before I had access to a scanner, but can't seem to find the original post to add medal card and photo to - so please excuse posting afresh.

Frederick was wounded in the arm - supposedly at Ypres but not sure the dates add up for that to be true. The photo shows him seated in his hospital blues. Does anyone know where the military hospital is likely to have been for the photo to have been taken in Burton on Trent? I have no idea who the other chap is - is he Australian?

Anything else that can be gleaned from the medal card? I sadly cannot find him on the Ancestry pension records.

Regards
Jan ;)
Fingers crossed the posting of images goes OK and doesn't come out huge.

Thanks Ady. I didn't realise that was the purpose of the Silver War Badge. Do you know what List K 659 is?

Yes Its the page number in the  Bedfordshire Regiments SWB Roll  book.

you see the numbers next to British and Victory on the Medal Index Card ?they refer to the actual Medal Rolls at the NA Kew when(if) you visit and view them they should give a wee bit more info such as battalion date enlisted and reason for discharge(But you already know that!)

Each SWB was individually  numbered on the Roll but youll have to view the roll to get it as its not online

Just an update - found his records on Ancestry today ;D ;D ;D ;D

23 pages of pretty fragmented stuff that will take some deciphering. Includes letters from a woman who was sure he was her missing husband - sadly for her he wasn't.

Hi Sandy

Thanks for posting that  but it isn't my Granddad - not to worry though as I do have his somewhat inaccurate entry already and maybe the gentleman you have posted will belong to someone else on Rootschat :D

Cheers
