Looking for Flanigans in Armagh
« on: Thursday 15 November 07 21:47 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone doing research on any Flanigans living or born in Armagh and Monaghan, Ireland between 1800 - present . The same family given names are used over and over each generation . The names are  James ,Francis , Bernard , Edward , Margaret , Catherine.

Edward Flanigan married Margaret Donnelly between 1850 -1870 and they had 3 children
Francis Joseph Flanigan b. 1881  married Catherine McGrory in 1903 Armagh
Margaret Anne Flanigan b. Dec. 19, 1871 married a F. Kuper
Patrick Flanigan  b.  ? married Mary Doherty in St. Patrick , Portadown

Francis J . and Catherine Mcgrory Flanigan moved to Scotland in 1903 .
Margaret moved to US
Patrick , I don't know but he had about 6 children with Mary

If anyone knows of any info on Flanigans please let me know. I have been searching on the Armagh site but have'nt found records yet , plus it is too expensive to even do a search. Have found some birth records on ScotlandsPeople for Francis J and Catherine Flanigans children.

Can anyone give a list of good search sites ( that are not so expensive or free )

Also , Does anyone know the names of some cemeteries in these counties and in Ballyparoon ,Tipperary . Catholic cemeteries.

I would greatly appreciate any help or info Anyone can give me !!!

Best free source online is LDS (www.familysearch.org):
Margaret Anne Flanagan born 18 Dec.1879 Drumgallon, Co.Monaghan, dau. of Edward & Margaret (Donnelly)- not 19 Dec.1871.
If Margaret went to U.S. you could check www.ellisisland.org to look for a passenger list (if she went to N.Y.)- be sure to check both pages of manifest.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
