Robert's brother John Wright seems to have married Elizabeth Fleet in Chester in 1870 and he's with her and her father in 1871 census in Chester, he's an Anchor Smith like his father! Census details if you want them?

Won't be able to find John senior's parents or Margaret's in 1841 until you find out her maiden surname and his father's name & occupation from a marriage cert.

Mandy,

Just a wee snippett...............

On line in www.genuki.org.uk , there is a Marriage Index 1813-1837 of Bedlington Parish ( St Cuthbeth's, c900 AD)

In that era there was one Wright marriage....

"6 Feb 1826 Thomas Wright >< Elizabeth Winter "
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I notice that John/Margaret named two of their children Thomas and Elizabeth. !

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you have Elizabeth Wright nee Shuttleworth on the 1841 census ?

Longtown is in the very north of county of Cumberland (close to Scotland border.

But I cannot see a Loughborough in Cumberland. But there is a community called Longburgh near Burgh by Sands. But this was not within the territory of Longtown parish.

( The "Surname Profiler" web site gives the main home of the Shuttleworth surname as south Cumberland/Westmorland and north Lancashire )

Oops.. I should have written that Bedlington Parish church was dedicated to St CUTHBERT ( after monks fleeing with the body of St Cuthbert, from the Vikings raiding their monastery on Lindisfarne, rested with it in Bedlington )

But I cannot see a Loughborough in Cumberland.

Michael, hi,

It turned out to be Longtown (as I read it) on the 1871 census, not Loughborough as Mandy thought!

Hi Barbara

I have recieved the birth certificate of Robert Wright.
My date of 1867 was a mistake, he was born 1860 17th February, Upper Saltney, Hawarden. Registration District Hawarden, Sub district hawarden, County of Chester in Flint.

His parent were John Wright (Anchor Smith) married to Margaret Logan (Registrar not sure if it is Logen or Logan)

I would be grateful for the census info you have, please.
Hope this gives a bit more light to work with.

Thanks
Mandy

Just recapping, as these census seem to be the correct family, especially as Robert now known to be born 1860:
1861 RG9/2634 fol.20 p.36  Roberts's Row, Saltney
John Wright  head mar 34  Anchor Smith Northumberland
Margaret  "   wife   mar 41                              Cumberland
John         "   son          13  Scholar                 Durham
William     "      "             8        "                          "
Robert      "      "             1                               Flint, Saltney

1851:
HO107/2172 fol.857 p.25  Saltney Station
John Wright head mar 24 Labourer  Northumberland
Margaret  "   wife mar  31                Cumberland Longtown
Elizabeth  "    dau         5  Scholar     Durham Gateshead
John         "    son          2                          "          "
Thomas    "      "            9 months              "          "
Stephen Copeland visitor m 34 Labourer   "      Swalwell
Adam Henderson      "    wid. 56 Smith       "     Gateshead

There's a marriage in 1848 June qu Ripon 23/468 for John Wright with a Margaret Lacon on same page, don't know if they fit yet, seems unlikely place, will look for them both in 1841
