COLLINS family Chase Side, Southgate
« on: Sunday 18 November 07 03:12 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Looking for info and wondering what happened to the family of Charles COLLINS (parents William COLLINS & Matilda AUTY) and Henrietta PEGRUM (parents Samuel PEGRUM & Eliza HAGGIS).

Charles was a carpenter but also ran the Chase Side Tavern in Winchmore Hill, Southgate.  They had six children:

Helena Eliza COLLINS (1875 -
Dean William COLLINS (1879 - 1882)
Harry COLLINS (1882 -
Henrietta Elsie COLLINS (1884 -
Agnes Annie COLLINS (1886 -
Sidney COLLINS (1888 -

Would love to know what happened to the kids especially after 1901.
Cheers

FreeBMD has a marriage for a Henrietta Elsie COLLINS, Sep qtr 1906, Edmonton, Middlesex, 3a 1116, to either William Henry DEAN or Herbert LEE, which could be one of the daughters. None of the others stand out.

That was about as far as I got with her also.  Not sure which one she married either.

Hello, Janine,

It is possible that Henrietta Elsie Collins married Herbert Lee.

The names of mothers are entered in the birth indexes after Sept ¼ 1911 so if you find a marriage in the freeBMDs giving you the choice of two spouses, you can try trawling thro' the birth entries after Sept ¼ 1911 making a note of all the those with the two spouse names in the relevent district.

I could find nothing with Dean/ Collins as parents but there were several for Lee/Collins.   I only went as far as 1916, there may be more.

Susan A. Lee
June ¼ 1912  Edmonton  3a  1357

Charles E.R. Lee
Dec ¼ 1915  Edmonton  3a  1051

Elsie A. Lee
Sept. ¼ 1912  Edmonton  3a  1082

The second two may be brother & sister, the page nos are not too far apart,  Elsie is perhaps a clue here as well.

The Susan A.Lee may be another family as the qtr. & that of Elsie are too close in the same year.

Hope this has helped.
RIP 1927-2018

Thanks Meliora

The Charles and Elsie are a good start as they are family names.

Cheers

Hi there,  Helena Eliza Collins was my grandmother, son Dunstan Cuthbert being my father.  I have a public tree on Ancestry with a lot of info on the Collins family which i'm doing at present.  Please have a look and see if any info there helps.  Best regards Esme
