John Naish 1861 census
« on: Monday 19 November 07 08:06 GMT (UK) »
Could SKS try to find John NAISH born c1835 Pucklechurch in the 1861 census. I have him for all other dates apart from 1841. In 1851 he was living in Twerton Bath with his parents, William and Elizabeth. In 1866 he married Louisa Gunter and was living in Marsh Land St Phillips Bristol.

I have the marriage cert and John is given as widowed so I would like to find his first marriage. There is a possible marriage in Bristol in Dec 1860 . The two possible wives are Ellen Derrick and Elizabeth Fowler also there is a marriage in Bath Jun 1860 and the wife is Elizabeth Lansdown. I hope that if I can find him in 1861 he is living in either Bristol/Bath with either an Ellen or Elizabeth.

Many thanks Thelma  ;)

Hi Thelma,

Here's a possible ...

1861
RG9/1687 15 26
Bath St James, Somerset
26 St James Rd

John Naish, head, 22, Coach painter, b. Bath
Elizabeth, wife, 26, House keeper, b. Gloucestershire

Is the occupation correct?  :)

Many thanks. ;D Yes the occupation is the same as 1871 so I am pretty sure you have found the correct one. I will send for the marriage cert to confirm this. What an excellent start to the day!

Thanks again Tati.
