I just wanted to let everyone who helped me with this one know
I have eventually found this particular Solomon Given  8)
I decided to search SP for every Given marriage in all districts
and I found this  :)
Solomon Given 35 occ sergeant in the Royal Irish Constabulary married
Agnes Gourlay in Lanarkshire in 1892
his father is recorded as Matthew Given
