St. Peters Churchyard Duffus - Plan - Now completed, thanks
« on: Friday 23 November 07 14:17 GMT (UK) »
If someone is visiting Libindx and you have time could you make a basic map of St. Peters Churchyard, Duffus indicating where grave D(O)435 is.  The details are Elspet Gordon (nee Williamson).  She died on 26th October 1853.

I am hoping a relation is visiting Elgin soon and will be able to take a photograph of the stone if one exists.

Thanks

Betty

Hi Betty,

I was wondering if you've tried emailing the lovely people at Libindx and asking if they have the plans of the cemetery. They were kind enough to photocopy and send the part of the Mortlach churchyard plan that I needed to find a relative, for a very small charge...about £1 if I remember correctly and well worth it...saved hours of searching :)
The email enquiries button is at the top left of the page http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp

Thanks for that thought.

I thought it might have been quicker if someone was going to Libindx as the people visiting Elgin will be going soon. Going by previous correspondence with Libindx I think they must have a bit of a backlog.

Thanks for your time.

Betty

I can't help with the layout, but Duffus Churchyard isn't too big.  Provided the headstone is in reasonable condition, it shouldn't be too difficult to find Elspet's grave.  If you have trouble, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks Stuart for your reply.

The visit to Elgin did not happen so I am no further on with this query.

If you can help at all that would be great.

Betty
