Hi again,

I downloaded the Death Certificates and found lots of good information and more relatives.

Now - is there away of finding any of the living relatives?

In the UK, I'd look at the 07 Electoral Roll, plus the telephone directory and maybe compile a shortlist and send out a mailshot.

Is there a method like this for finding Melbourne residents?

Regards

Hi TravelDog,

whitepages.com.au is the Australian telephone directory.
Might be a good place to start

does  that  mean  all  the death certificates  for Jesse and Rose/Rosa and  their  children?
So  you  have  the children's childrens names?

you  could  try  ww2 nominal  roll  to see if  any  served in WW2
http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/

also  you  might  get  the electorall  rolls  in Australia house  in  London  perhaps?  not  sure of  this  or where  you  do  live

Good suggestion I'll give that ago - my office is in London.

Yes ~ I now have the names of the children of Jesse and Rose, and at least some of the names of the children's children ..  I suspect most are still living in the Melbourne area.

I found a record for Albert Arthur Collins born 1st Dec 1912 in Kent UK  - Father Jesse Collins mother Rose Collins (nee Ealden)

As tropicalj suggested above I searched on: http://www.ww2roll.gov.au  and found a record:

Name ~ COLLINS, ALBERT ARTHUR
Service ~ Australian Army
Service Number ~ VX100982 (V10469)
Date of Birth ~ 1 Dec 1911
Place of Birth ~ KENT, ENGLAND
Date of Enlistment ~ 9 Sep 1942
Locality on Enlistment FERNEY CREEK, VIC
Place of Enlistment ~ BONEGILLA, VIC
Next of Kin ~ COLLINS, ALMA
Date of Discharge ~ 30 Nov 1945
Rank ~ Lance Sergeant
Posting at Discharge 28 AUST~ RALIAN WORKS COMPANY
WW2 Honours and Gallantry ~ None for display
Prisoner of War ~ No

It looks like Albert Arthur Collins married an Alma ..  but I can't find a record for this marriage ..  or what happens to him ? Any thoughts?
