you will also  find a WW1 recod for Leslie George Whale which is filled with a bit of family history worth the 45 page read for address etc

also  two records  fro
WIlliam John Latchord WHALE  who  was  killed  in action  in 1944 over Germany

very touching reading
regards jenn

 Again many thanks ev.

Yes, Jack Herbert was a corrupt policeman!!!

My husbands family knew nothing about him until we started the family tree!!

This brings back memories of the Fitzgerald investigation/report I was working for the govt when the investigation was on & the results published late 1980s - interesting times.

Qld BDM registers to 1914 are online - they don't have the exact dates as given by Jenn (only the registration date) but are useful for browsing.

The immigration for your family appear to be on the Unassisted list into Victoria - the Vic files include anyone who stopped by even if they were going elsewhere - so often folks for other states are on their lists

The name seems not at all common, There were a couple of other Whales arrived 1883, 1888 - could be related?

I visit Toowong Cemetery occasionally - do you have/want any photographs?

Trish

Edit: Sorry Jenn - I just realised you referenced the online Qld BDMs

no problems Trisha  I  only  have the  pioneers  index  for  Qld.  Maybe some one with  the federation index   may be able to  add  in  anything extra.

kind regards Jenn

I didn't realise you were missing the early one - there may be something but would only be 1885-1889 & it would be online - I'll have a look

Trish

Edit: Only one Whale on the pioneer index & it was a marriage in 1864 - so not this family

Hi,
Here are some SILCOCK's arriving in 1862 per  'Conway'

http://www.archives.qld.gov.au/downloads/Indexes/immigration/ImmiS6.pdf

There is a little infant Harriet, but her parents [per her registered death] do not seem to be there so perhaps not her.

Walter Cooke Silcock left a will.

 Woooooooooow :)

Thank you all for the help you are giving to me, I really am grateful :-*

We have been trying for years to find out where Sarah Latchford went and there she was.........in OZ all the time!!

I am trying to get in touch with a couple of people on Tribal Pages who seem to be researching the same William and Sarah but as yet I haven't had a reply.

Trish........thank you so much for your kind offer to send photo's of the cemetery I would love to have some.

Again........thank you all for your help, I am very grateful :)
