Hi Nat,   your last message mentioned John Haslett who gave his occupation as a clerk. My gt gt grandfather was James Haslett, born around 1844. He married Anna Winters at Belfast on 25 /12 /1865.  What is interesting is that on the marriage record he names his father as John Haslett. His occupation is given with the first word difficult to read but possibly "shipping", the second word "clerk".
It is possibly the same John Haslett as although the name was fairly common there couldnt be too many with the same name and occupation.
If you have any more details on his children I would be very grateful for any information you might have.

I can add a little bit of information:

The Rev. John Chaine (1802-1862), b. Ballycraigy, Co. Antrim, son of William Chaine and Jane Whittle; m. 1 Feb. 1831
Julia Hyndman, dau of Hugh Hyndman of Eglantine Hill, Co. Antrim.  The Rev. John and Julia Hyndman had four
daus that I am aware of.  Hyndman family connected to the Macaulay family of Crumlin and Larne.  Macaulay family connected to the Dickey family of Randalstown.  Dickey family connected to the Wallace family.

Stephen,
Sorry for the delay, not done much family history recently.
My g-g-g-grandfather Robert Stott married Emily Haslett (Essex 1827) in Dublin, 1857. her father was a  soldier, John Haslett. We found his army records, he was born in 1786 in Belfast, joined army in 1806, gave his occupation as "clerk".

Pretty certain that he was married to Catherine, and probably had at least two sons John ~(Southampton 1829) and Henry (Limerick 1833). Quite feasible that he had another son in 1844.

Natstott .....I believe you are correct about Catherine.

I am still going through information I found months ago....but in chasing down Micheal Twigg came across documents linking Wallace family to lots of different properties all round Belfast area.

"Shipping" another Twigg link Dublin to a ship that went missing then was found again.

Seems I shall be tripping all over you guys for a while...........happy hunting
