Hi Phil,

There's two births that stand out;
James (born 20th Feb 1846, christened 22nd Mar Dundee)
and David Rea Tyrie (born 13th Jun 1848, christened 9th Jul Dundee).

Both to parents James Tyrie and Margaret Murray. They married in Perth on the 8th May 1843.

Hi

Thank you for your reply. I do have that information and am glad it has been confirmed. I am trying to find out if the brothers had other siblings born in Scotland. I have seen a David and John on the 1851 Scotland census but with a Jane looking after them, not a James and Margaret as parents. I am wondering if theses are "my" David and James?
Thanks again
Phil

Many thanks Ev

This is a possibility. I saw the names on the 1861 census for Scotland not the 1851 but this doesn't really change things. On the 1861 census there are 3 other children Jessie, John and William who could have been born to Jane. What I have to try to find out is if their siblings David, James and Peter were born to Margaret who died in 1950. Did James re marry a Jane? I have not found them in the 1851 census.

phil

there is a seperate reference to  john tyrie mill dresser
relationship with margaret murray d. 1850
i don't know if this means he was buried at the howff or just a
reference as there is no other info
saw james tyrie and wife margaret on 1871 england census
and james and david with a jane on 1861 scotland census and
agree peter could be a brother , too old to be a son of jane if
ages are right
i think the address on 1861 scotland census(with jane) is no. 14 dudhope
cresent dundee if so my ancestors are are living at no. 21
name prophet
